Australian wanting to start a business in Ukraine

I am interested in perhaps starting up a 5 star restaurant in kiyv. Is it possible for a forigner to do this ? - and if so what complications ( if any ) may I encounter.

Ukraine always welcomes new business and more jobs for the Ukrainian people. Your best bet is to actually visit Ukraine for at least 2 weeks and aquaint yourself with the city, walk around a bit, visit other restaurants that are considered 5-star and see how they are doing.
It's better to see things for yourself and maby make friends with the other restaurant owners, Kiev has many establishments that are owned by the foreigners, it's better to ask them yourself.
Hope you visit Kiev and decide to bring your business there.

Thank you for your prompt reply. The reason why I am interested in setting up such a restaurant is actually due to what I saw with my own eyes. I was in Kiev in November of 2000 for 2 weeks.
Therefore, i have seen how these restaurants operate. However, what I didn't get to see or find out is : How hard it is to get through the Ukrainian red tape & beaurocracy to set up such a venture. Do you know ?- Also most current operators are reluctant to provide you with good information , as I would think that they do not want to increase their competition. I'll be in Ukraine in a few weeks, but not Kiev this time, but Odessa. And if you like, I can gather some specific info for you. Unfortunately, I'm not going to Kiev untill next year.
When in Odessa, I'll probably be dining in most of the nice downtown restaurants, so you can e-mail me and post a list of specific questions that I may be able to answer for you once I'm there.
I have a small forum on Odessa, Ukraine with some excellent links on that city, which is not too different from Kiev, maby that'll give you a few more options.
