How will the increasing cost of gas affect YOU?
I bike to work now but soon will have to drive and then it will affect me quite a bit. Every month I will be spending on average extra $300 just on fuel for the car.

Mate, give us time, some of us have lives away from the PC you know.
6 years ago I used to drive 1000km (about 600 miles) a week and that was just from work to home and back, it used to cost me about $200 each week but part of that was also doing the weekend thingy going shopping (I live out of town). 4.5 years ago I fitted a V8 and got LPG on it and cut my bill back to about $70-$100 a week. Now I don't work that far away (I do casual teaching in the local High and Primary schools) and it can still cost me $70-$100 a week. If fuel continues to go up in price I will probably have to consider buying a 2nd hand small car and put it on LPG as well. I wish I had a Harley-Davidson then I would bike to work to ![]() |

Well, I plan to have a Hummer H2 in the future and a lot of people will probably hate me for it. GOOD.
Well, firstly there is a way to modify the Hummer and other cars to be hybrids or just to use less gas. Secondly, it is the fault of the car companies (aka gas companies) for not giving us electric cars. Who Killed the Electric Car? I suggest all watch this movie. Just a few years ago in California came out electric cars. So many people wanted them. And loved them. The companies saw that they will not be able to get profit from gas if they produce more so they stopped producing. Not only that, since the cars were leased and not sold, the companies took each and every single one back and crushed and shreded them all. P.S. There are cars though like SmartCars which originated in Europe. smart USA - open your mind to the car that challenges the status quo There are also many people all over the world finding alternatives to fuel. And btw, Brazil has cars that use Ethonol and they do not rely on any country for gas. So, there are and will be more alternatives. I don't think the gas prices will effect my car prefferences that much. The problem is that the truck drivers that need to drive to the stores, burn a lot of gas and that cannot be solved yet. |
