There is absolutely no point in comparing my Country with Ukraine, it just does not work at all.
Ukraine after its independence from the Soviet Union has suffered from monumental negative consequences, and a reasonable amount of the consequences left over from that period are still very obvious.
I cannot guess how long it would take for Ukraine to catch up with EU Standards or even how long to catch up with non EU Member States in Europe such as Norway, Switzerland. Probably without putting a figure in, it would many many decades.
With Ukraine and all of its political quarels and instability, Ukraine seems to be drifting further away from the prospect of EU Membership. The EU has an obligation to support Ukraine as well through financial or poliitcal means. I believe the EU should use its power to assist in moving Ukraine towards the EU.
Right now its looking very murky indeed.
