Greetings Kathy, surely Poland had more luck than Ukraine during communism. Young people in Poland do not fully understand what it meant to have such a spiritual guide like John Paul II in difficult times. It goes far beyond religious issue and I am sure if Ukraine had had such a person, its image could have been much more favourable. I read one article in a Polish Internet daily which made me sad. The author, a well-known feminist activist, prof. Sroda equated the JPII authority with that of one TV guru Jurek Owsiak who was much successful in rasing a lot of public money for Polish chidren's medical care. She stated that Owsiak does practically what JPII only said about. I can hardly imagine how stupid some professors can be. The giant commercial TV propaganda worked for Owsiak's cause. Owsiak is OK and I respect his activities but making him a messenger of true love does not make any sense.
