I suppose it all depends on circumstances. If there were some local people to stay with outside of the big cities, then I think that would be cool to stay there. Otherwise, if I were actually living somewhere for a few weeks or more than I'd be trying to house-sit or perhaps sublet a cheap place in Kiev or Lviv.
