Names ending in -icz
Fedorovich, as I live in Warsaw, Poland, I would like to make you aware that your name is not uncommon in Poland now and I personally know one my university mate of that name. The current Polish writing is Fedorowicz (read Fedorovich) with another variant name Federowicz.
Names ending in –icz were popular in historic part of Grand Lithuanian Duchy being a part of Rzeczpospolita [Commonwealth of Both Nations] at a time, now in Belarus. Some examples: Adam Mickiewicz (the most famous Polish poet) Henry Sienkiewicz (a Polish novelist of international fame, Nobel prize novelist for the “Quo Vadis” novel 1905), Jaroslaw Iwaszkiewicz (well-known Polish novelist), Adam Hanuszkiwiecz (popular Warsaw theatre actor and director), Harasymowicz (one of military commanders in the Polsih-Soviet war 1920). Lithuanians modify Mickiewicz’s name to Mickievicius.
