Zaporizhe (alternate name online - Zaporozhye) in southeast Ukraine. It is both the name of the region and the name of the city. Was your family from the large town, Zaporizhe or a village in the Zaporizhska Oblast/Region? There were also many Germans living there in the 18/19th centuries. WHERE DID YOUR ANCESTORS IMMIGRATE and approximately in what time frame?

PS> Many Cossacks made their way to California after the Bolshevik Revolution. They worked as extras and stuntmen in the cowboy movies of early Hollywood. To this day there are stuntmen in Hollywood, who are descendants of Cossacks.
