??? Velka Koljes is very likely Velky Kolacin in Slovakia today. LDS has filmed Slovakian records, but the key is locating EXACT PLACE and its cluster group. There is a Gazetteer that can be ordered. BUT if I remember correctly, Laurie's parents negated everything we came up with.

I suspect that Grandfather was born Bohemian German and at one point lived in Vynohradiv and Khust. It is not uncommon to run across Germans that were migratory in the Carpathian Mountain REGIONS.
The answer is somewhere in USA.
