Thanks again Hannia. I note your link takes me to Rubezhivka and its orthodox church - such churches are definitely relevant to my enquiry, having so many 'Czyzski/Chyzhky' involved in it! On a 1891 map the same Rubezhivka is spelt the Polish way as Rubiezewka (with a dot on the z). I have to keep this place in mind but I still prefer the other one, Rubanka. This is a subjective preference indeed.
Do we have as a member of this forum who is a resident from Kijv and who I can get in touch with to make phone calls on my behalf to these three Chyzhky residents? There would be a simple question to ask them:
"do they know of a Jakob Chyzhky who was married to a Stanislawa 'Tarnogurska'; she was born in 1897 at Kozjatin, her father was in the railways. Jakob's father had a relatively high position in the orthodox church, he had many brothers and sisters who could all play a different musical instrument. When they played together it was like an orchestra."
And if I hit the jackpot with one of them, then I would obviously like to communicate further with that family....
Well I am afraid that's all I can say about my grandfather.
