Lemko, the ending to "Orphan" did have a black comedic quality to it. I agree with you.
As to Vera, she is working actress and can be seen in many films. She is well liked in the industry and has a reputation for being a serious actress. She shows up on time, is always prepared and doesn't act the diva. Those qualities get you many screenplays delivered to your door.
