Description:
Easter is considered Ukraine's most important religious holiday, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Ukrainians typically fast prior to Easter. On the night of Easter they will attend church services, taking Easter baskets with them to be blessed. After the service they go home to a feast, during which they eat Paskha, a bread that symbolises the Lord's body. A well-known tradition is the use of Pysanky. These are eggs that have been beautifully decorated. The public holidays for this celebration are 15 and 16 April 2012.
