Traveling By Train – A Great Way to Explore Ukraine

There is so much to see and do in the fascinating country of Ukraine, that visitors may find it difficult to decide on an itinerary. Rather than rushing from one tourist attraction to another, many choose to explore Ukraine by means of its extensive railroad network, allowing them to enjoy the journey just as much as the actual destination. Railway travel in Ukraine is very reliable, comfortable, safe and relatively inexpensive, and in addition to linking all major destinations in Ukraine and its neighboring countries, the railroad network passes through many charming towns and villages which are well worth seeing.

Eski-Kermen – A Magnificent Reminder of the Past

“Not far from Mankopia is a certain very ancient fortress and town, but it does not have any name from the Turks or Tatars, not even from the Greeks themselves, because of its extreme antiquity…" These are the words that were written down in the sixteenth century by Marinus Broniovius and refer to the majestic site of Eski-Kermen. The Tartars decided to named it Eski-Kermen, which means “The Old Fortress”, recognizing the significance of the site.

Zarvanytsia – Home of a Religious Relic

At first glance the village of Zarvanytsia looks like a quaint settlement surrounded by the beauty of the mountains and the Strypa River. Situated in the Podilia Valley, the village seems almost forgotten amongst the natural wonders of the region. However, in truth, it is all but disregarded for the village of Zarvanytsia is the keeper of one of the most precious icons of Ukraine – the Mother of God.
