Traveling By Train – A Great Way to Explore Ukraine

There is so much to see and do in the fascinating country of Ukraine, that visitors may find it difficult to decide on an itinerary. Rather than rushing from one tourist attraction to another, many choose to explore Ukraine by means of its extensive railroad network, allowing them to enjoy the journey just as much as the actual destination. Railway travel in Ukraine is very reliable, comfortable, safe and relatively inexpensive, and in addition to linking all major destinations in Ukraine and its neighboring countries, the railroad network passes through many charming towns and villages which are well worth seeing.

Balaklava : A City of Secrets

The city of Balaklava is located in Crimea, Ukraine, and was once a small fishing village, near Sevastopol. It went from being a quaint inconspicuous village, to an ideal tactical location during the war and the Soviet period, to an independent city, that officially became part of the Sevastopol district in 1957. The quiet bay with its treacherous rocks are not the only attractions in Balaklava, as it is what is hidden under the rocks that makes visiting Balaklava a very fascinating and historically interesting destination.

The Legend of the Black Sea

The Black Sea lies between the countries of Ukraine, Georgia, Turkey, Russia, Romania and Bulgaria. This inland sea is just over four hundred and thirty-six square kilometers in size and has a depth of seven thousand two hundred feet. In ancient times trade ships used to navigate its turbulent waters and in more modern times, significant World War I and II battles were fought on its waters. But the Black Sea is more than just a mass of water, it has many legends and myths connected to it, and in Ukraine there is one tale that has been passed down for generations, explaining the sudden bursts of turbulence and violent waters.
